The platform
The format specification, enclosure designs, backplane interface, and reference module are planned for release together. The format is intended to support third-party modules, including closed designs.

Source release policy
02Open source
Firmware & software
Firmware and software are planned as open source, with no paid feature unlocks. Proposed licensing: GPL for firmware; permissive licenses for SDKs and client libraries.
03Staged release
Instrument hardware
Schematics, parts lists, and documentation are proposed for release at shipment. Full production files would follow at the next revision or after 18 months, whichever comes first.
Discontinuation and closure
The proposed hardware policy includes immediate release of full production files if an instrument is discontinued or the company ceases operating.
This release policy is a proposal. Final license terms and dates will accompany each release. Hardware files have not yet been published.
